About Us

Established on 20th December 1997, Bamundi Mahavidyalaya stands as a pillar of higher education in the region. The institution was founded with the core objective of providing accessible education to students from economically challenged backgrounds. Many of our students come from families of farmers, fishermen, daily wage laborers, and small traders, making it difficult for them to pursue higher education in distant institutions.

Over the years, Bamundi Mahavidyalaya has not only facilitated academic growth but has also fostered a community where students can thrive intellectually and socially. Our dedicated faculty members strive to create an engaging and nurturing environment, ensuring that every student receives the support needed to excel in their academic journey.

Affiliation & Campus

The college is permanently affiliated with Gauhati University since the 2010-2011 session (vide letter no. E.C.Res.No.R/EC-06/2011/3(B) (15), dated 07/12/11). Spread across 19 bighas 2 kathas and 11 lechas, our campus provides an ideal learning environment with well-equipped classrooms, an extensive library, and administrative buildings.

In addition to academic facilities, the college has a spacious playground and a canteen, ensuring students have access to recreational and refreshment areas. A portion of the college land has also been leased for community services, including a fishery, contributing to the institution’s self-sufficiency.

Programs & Vision

At present, Bamundi Mahavidyalaya offers undergraduate programs in Arts, catering to students interested in humanities and social sciences. However, recognizing the evolving educational landscape and the demand for skill-based learning, the institution is committed to introducing career-oriented courses and vocational training programs in the near future.

Our goal is to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in both academic and professional spheres. By integrating modern teaching methodologies and focusing on holistic development, we aspire to transform lives and empower the community through education.

Governance

Bamundi Mahavidyalaya operates under the guidance of a Governing Body (G.B.), constituted as per the Assam Provincialized College Management Rules. The body ensures smooth administrative functions, policy implementation, and continuous development of the institution.

Through strategic planning and a student-centric approach, our administration remains committed to maintaining academic excellence and upholding the values that the institution was founded upon.
