Purpose of the Committee

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Bamundi Mahavidyalay has been constituted in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 .

The Committee is committed to promoting a safe, respectful and dignified working and learning environment for women associated with the institution. It provides an appropriate mechanism for receiving and addressing complaints relating to sexual harassment at the workplace.

Objectives of the ICC

Prevention

To take appropriate measures to prevent sexual harassment and promote awareness regarding respectful behaviour in the workplace.

Prohibition

To ensure that sexual harassment is not tolerated within the institution and that appropriate institutional mechanisms are available.

Redressal

To provide an appropriate mechanism for receiving and addressing complaints in accordance with applicable law.

What is Sexual Harassment?

Sexual harassment includes unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature, whether physical, verbal, non-verbal or otherwise, as covered under the applicable law.

  • Unwelcome physical contact or advances.
  • Demand or request for sexual favours.
  • Making sexually coloured remarks.
  • Showing pornography or sexually explicit material.
  • Other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.

Where applicable, the ICC conducts an inquiry in accordance with the provisions of law.

Appropriate recommendations or action may follow in accordance with the applicable rules.
